Discovering Your Fragrance Language: Inside the Curated Olfactive Discovery Kit

One of the most interesting parts of creating a bespoke perfume is that many clients arrive with a feeling long before they arrive with a vocabulary.

They may know they want something warm, airy, comforting, elegant, nostalgic, sensual, green, luminous, or clean — but translating those emotions into fragrance can feel surprisingly difficult at first. Even people who deeply love perfume often discover that the notes they think they enjoy are not always the ones they connect with most naturally on skin.

This is what inspired the Curated Olfactive Discovery Kit.

Designed as an optional add-on to the bespoke fragrance experience, the kit offers a more immersive way to explore scent before formulation begins. Each collection is personally assembled around the client’s fragrance brief and includes a curated selection of individual perfumery materials and olfactive references chosen to reflect different directions, textures, and emotional qualities within the developing concept.

Some clients discover they are unexpectedly drawn to airy musks and skin-like textures. Others gravitate toward citrus brightness, creamy woods, soft florals, green facets, tea notes, resinous warmth, or modern amber structures. Sometimes the materials a client responds to most strongly are completely different from what they initially imagined.

That process of discovery is incredibly valuable.

Rather than approaching fragrance only through finished perfumes, the kit invites clients into the building blocks of perfumery itself — offering a glimpse into the textures, atmospheres, and materials that shape the final composition. The experience often creates a deeper sense of connection to the fragrance journey and helps refine creative direction before trials are developed.

For gift recipients, the experience can be especially meaningful. Many people receiving a bespoke perfume have never explored fragrance in this way before, and the discovery kit provides a thoughtful and approachable introduction to the world of fine fragrance.

The goal is not technical education or “learning perfumery.” It is simply a guided exploration of scent — a slower, more intentional way of understanding what resonates emotionally and aesthetically.

Like the bespoke process itself, every discovery kit is unique, intuitive, and assembled with care.
